There
are different kinds of roofing, some of which last longer than others and are
easier to replace than others. When replacing one kind of roofing with another,

the extra weight.
With
asphalt shingles, shingle repair is fairly simple. They’re also easily damaged
— and not just by violent weather. The
shingles can be warped from overheating by the sun or a too-hot attic caused by
bad ventilation. Wind blowing over the surface of the roof will force the gaps
between them to open wider until a loose or warped shingle is torn free. If your
roof gutters are clogged, rainwater may pool on your roof, leading to water
damage. Synthetic shingles are cheaper, but more fragile.
Slate
and tile last a long time, are water-resistant and don’t burn. But they’re
expensive and heavy. Ask a professional roofer if the structure of your roof
can support the weight. Slate has the disadvantage that walking on it will
crack it. Make sure your roofer can do slate shingle repair.
